Easily Manage Your Social Media

With the various social networks these days (Facebook, Twitter, MySpace, LinkedIn, etc.), it can seem tedious and overwhelming to keep them all updated. In order to help alleviate this, there are free applications available that can singlehandedly manage all the social media platforms. These applications will consolidate the networks so you don’t have to log into and update each individually. Examples of these programs include Seesmic, Digsby, and TweetDeck.

Many programs also allow for collaboration and various permission rights. It can be set so that any employee can post, but only one has administration privileges. If the free programs don’t fit your needs, both Socialite and HootSuite are reasonably priced media managers.

Are You Due for a Hardware Upgrade?

Are you possibly considering new or updated hardware? Can’t decide if you should commit? CMIT has compiled the top five signs that it’s time to invest in a hardware upgrade.

  • You are frequently troubleshooting your network, which inhibits your company’s productivity. New hardware can definitely result in less downtime.
  • Everything seems to take way longer than they should. This is usually caused when hardware is near capacity.
  • Data starts disappearing. This is usually the case for faulty hard drives that needs replacing.
  • The manufacturer no longer supports the hardware you have. A product’s support cycle usually lasts a few years, and keeping hardware past this timeframe may leave you more vulnerable to attacks.
  • If your equipment is making a lot of noise, this is probably because it has collected dust and debris that stops the fan from working properly.

CMIT Long Island is Now Hiring!

CMIT Solutions of Long Island is hiring. CMIT is the premier IT services franchise in the US. Our goal is to be the preferred IT business partner of small to medium sized businesses by providing a range of services and solutions – from installation, system maintenance and support to disaster recovery and training. We have just added our sixth location on Long Island.

CMIT Solutions is currently seeking knowledgeable Senior Network Technicians to help us support and develop clients in the Long Island and Queens area. This is a contract-to-hire position. 10-40 hours initially with potential for full time employment for the right candidate.

Responsibilities will be to assess, support, design, install, troubleshoot and maintain client Microsoft based environments. We are looking for customer-centric individuals with Server 2003/2008, Exchange, Desktop, and PDA experience.

Experience

  • A self-starter with proven computer and networking capabilities
  • 3-5 years assessing, designing and maintaining client networks
  • Strong knowledge of and experience implementing PC/server hardware and software, Server 2003 & 2008 a must. Experience with Exchange Server and SharePoint is a plus.
  • Working knowledge of WAN, LAN, TCP/IP, Firewalls, Routers, Switches and troubleshooting these devices
  • Experience installing and maintaining Microsoft Office and Windows 7

Certifications

Network Technicians are required to read and understand all company marketing and promotional materials as they relate to the sales of the company's services and products.

This is a part-time position (10-40) hours a week guaranteed initially, contract-to-hire; could lead to full time if a good fit. Applicant must be available to do weekend assignments, and to respond to communication during off hours for work scheduling purposes. Applicant must have a car.
